Every time I visit a high school, I hear the same type of questions.

“My family’s conservative, but I don’t really know how to get involved. What can I do?”

“My friends are liberal, and my teachers say that capitalism hurts poor people. I don’t agree, but how can I tell them what I believe?”

“My family hasn’t been doing so well these past few years. Who should we elect when Obama is done? He’s hurt us a lot.”

Thousands of conservative high school students have been utterly silenced. They’ve been silenced by teachers and administrators and friends and culture. Thousands of students will never speak out, because they think they’re alone.

 You are not alone.

In all fifty states, students are waking up. Students are learning how big government hurts the middle class. Students are learning that freedom is better than free stuff. Students are learning that hard work is better than a handout.

The other day, I had the opportunity to speak to a few hundred high schoolers at Piper High School in South Florida. The school was overwhelmingly liberal, but students were blown away by the message of free markets and free people. They didn’t want a mediocre life via handouts; they wanted an exceptional life via hard work. A liberal professor came up me after, and I’ll never forget what he said.

“I don’t agree with your message, but I’m so glad you came. The students actually cared about what you had to say. I’m blown away.”

High schoolers don’t want to be told what to do; they don’t want a life of free stuff. They want the freedom to chase their dreams.

Start a chapter at your high school today! Many of your friends will agree with the Turning Point USA message; but you have to bring it to them!!
