At the start of the semester, we had several hurdles to overcome in South Florida but in the past month, we have identified and recruited students all across the region to join the movement! One of the highlights of this past month was identifying Morgan Thorn, a student leader at Nova Southeastern University, who is heading up our Turning Point USA chapter here!
We have been spending time clip boarding all over the smaller campuses in the region to get a feel for how the campuses leans to prepare to hit the ground running in the fall to establish chapters even in our smaller schools. In addition to starting a chapter at Nova this past month, we have been working on officially establish a high school chapter at St. Thomas Aquinas High School. We have passionate activists here and our chapter leader, Sammy Lawson, served as an ambassador at CPAC with us this past month.
One of the highlights of this past month was the GOP debate at The University of Miami on March 10th! Because this school already leans liberal, it was a great opportunity for us to engage this campus with the conservative message. We have a great College Republicans chapter down at UM and we are focusing on building their membership numbers and getting students plugged in with local political opportunities. We are looking forward to continuing our work in South Florida in the next few months as we prepare to finish up this semester.
