I started off the Spring semester with some great news- thanks to our wonderful student leaders! Recently we had two chapters approved in Chicago, the hometown of liberal leaders such as Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. At Loyola University-Chicago, our pro-Constitution club was approved and the University of Illinois-Chicago our new chapter was approved as well! This is the culmination of hard work last semester by our students to recruit enough students to prove to the schools that we would be successful.
Another key project has been developing our network in central and southern Illinois, which is generally more favorable to conservatism. I have been working hard to build a solid chapter at Illinois State, and at the student organization fair our group was the last one to leave. The chapter recently tabled for American Pride week, where students wrote thank you notes to the Normal Fire Department and Police Department.
The semester also included a trip to Michigan, where myself and our Michigan Field Director, Nina Doll, tabled at University of Michigan and Michigan State. Students were interested to hear more about how capitalism makes our lives better, and many students LOVED our Ron Swanson poster. We also talked to students about school choice and how it allows all students an opportunity at a good education.
