Loving Turning Point USA runs in the family of Lauren Mende. Lauren’s sister, Heather Mende, interned with the organization this summer and encouraged Lauren to attend Turning Point’s High School Activist Conference. After Lauren applied for, gained acceptance to, and attended the conference, she is ready to “start a club at her school and work closely with Turning Point USA” to start political dialogue among the students at St. Charles East High School.
“I think Turning Point USA is awesome,” says Mende, “and they give students such good opportunities.” Between her sister’s internship, the activist conferences, and the resources Turning Point USA will provide her school chapter, Lauren has experienced nearly every aspect of the organization.
While at the conference, Lauren was all ears during former Congressman Joe Walsh’s speech. “You know, when Joe Walsh speaks he picks one person to make an example of throughout the speech, and it happened to be me. It was so much fun,” Lauren said of her experience during the conference.
Lauren is a rising Senior at St. Charles East High School and hopes to attend a Christian University in Texas next fall. She plans to stay actively involved with Turning Point USA throughout her high school and college careers.
