Fact: The national debt, if converted into usable cash, could purchase over 79 trillion Otter Pops.
Students at the University of Central Florida received a much-needed break from the heat of summer with Turning Point USA’s “Freeze the Debt” activism event.
Field staffers Caitlin Butler and Tyler Bower lined campus walkways with witty and informative posters leading students to ice-cold popsicles and facts about the national debt and its impact on the next generation. Many students stopped by the table for a free Otter Pop, but stayed and signed up to get involved once they realized the importance of the matter at hand.
Congress “otter” know better than to saddle our generation with $18.2 trillion in debt. Students understand that a burdensome national debt is a threat to our nation’s security and an inhibitor to economic growth. It is time to put the heat on our elected officials and demand that they freeze the debt.
