During a Wednesday immigration raid, US Border Patrol utilized a Penske truck in covert fashion to help conduct a raid known as “Operation Trojan Horse,” which took place at a Home Depot in the Westlake region of Los Angeles.
The officers pulled up to the site and proceeded to arrest immigrants after the back door of the truck opened. The operation achieved 16 arrests, according to The Los Angeles Times.
Penske was in disagreement with the US Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) particular use of its vehicle, finding it a violation of one of its policies.
“Penske strictly prohibits the transportation of people in the cargo area of its vehicles under any circumstances. The company was not made aware that its trucks would be used in today’s operation and did not authorize this. Penske will reach out to DHS and reinforce its policy to avoid improper use of its vehicles in the future,” the company said in a statement posted on X.
“This week, Border Patrol conducted a targeted raid, dubbed Trojan Horse, in Los Angeles at a Home Depot that resulted in the arrest of 16 illegal aliens from Guatemala, Mexico, Honduras, and Nicaragua,” the DHS told The Hill. “Federal law enforcement will continue utilizing all resources to arrest criminal illegal aliens and keep Americans safe.”
In response to Penske’s disapproval, the DHS recalled the company’s past stance toward immigration, replying on X:
“Care to remind the American people what Penske said when this happened? Silence speaks volumes,” the DHS wrote. “The brave agents of [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] and [Customs and Border Protection] will continue carrying out their mission to protect Americans.”
