In the midst of a nationwide boycott for partnering with transgender TikTok star Dylan Mulvaney, Bud Light is reportedly sponsoring an “all-ages” pride event in Arizona.
On June 17, the Northern Arizona Pride Association will be hosting “Pride in the Pines,” an LGBT event that will take place in Flagstaff, Arizona. According to their official website, the event is “a family, safe space” for all visitors. However, the event will include a pride parade that is presumed to be filled with drag queens and erotic performances
On an official flyer for the event, the Northern Arizona Pride Association listed Bud Light as an official sponsor, among other big name companies such as Old Navy, Toyota, and Coca-Cola. This has prompted many conservatives, who are already engaging in a boycott of the beer company, to voice continued anger regarding the company’s endorsement of LGBT values.
In a statement to Newsweek, a Bud Light spokesperson stated that the brand is not, in fact, a sponsor of this event. The spokesperson claimed that, “the event organizers have issued a corrected version of the poster.” But as of today, Bud Light is still listed as an official sponsor of “Pride in the Pines” on the event’s website.
The news of Bud Light’s alleged sponsorship of the event comes at a time where its sales have dropped nearly 24% and is close to losing its status as the number one beer in the market. The company has attempted to pivot their advertisement strategy in recent days, such as partnering with Harley Davidson appealing to military members. However, it seems that conservatives boycotting the company will not be stopping anytime soon.
