Out in California, the fight for truth has now once again taken a hit from sitting governor Gavin Newsom.
The governor has now signed a bill that punishes doctors for giving medical advice about COVID-19 that is deemed misinformation.
Medical advice is deemed misinformation and “unprofessional conduct” when it is “contradicted by contemporary scientific consensus contrary to the standard of care,” and delivered with “malicious intent or an intent to mislead.”
This legislation is a slippery slope. It will likely result in the government strong-arming doctors into submission and will prevent them from giving professional and medical advice that is best for their patients, all in the name of stopping the spread of misinformation.
California has continued to pass laws that massively increase government overreach in every aspect of American life. The California state government has control of media, school boards, Hollywood and entertainment, and the energy grid. Each of these industries has been subject to harsh regulation, and we have all watched how the quality has suffered. Now, the state is coming for physicians.
Section 1 article (e) of the bill includes harsh accusations that makes doctors seen as a threat saying: “(e) Major news outlets have reported that some of the most dangerous propagators of inaccurate information regarding the COVID-19 vaccines are licensed health care professionals.” Let’s take a step back shall we. At the height of COVID-19, we saw governor’s and other elected officials offer no answers, solutions, or resolve to the pandemic that swept the United States.
For weeks we saw doctors across the country advocate for several different forms of COVID-19 treatment. But the federal government discouraged medical discussions on treatment and only prioritized prevention (the vaccine). It was brave doctors that kept showing up to work to risk everything to continue to help combat and fight against the growing cases of COVID-19 that were once hailed heroes before being turned into criminals when they disrupted the narrative of Washington.
Doctors and physicians that work in the medical field know more about medical care than the government does. We are witnessing firsthand what officials with no background in medicine are doing to restrict individual freedom and create a “government knows best” society. Let the people decide and keep your hands out of medicine!
