“Politics is downstream from culture,” a saying first coined by Andrew Breitbart has become one of the primary motivations for conservatives to take back American culture. Doing that, however, is an uphill battle — especially if we don’t know where to start.
We need to ask ourselves, “What is culture downstream from?” Simply put, culture is downstream from how we raise and educate the next generation of Americans. It’s important to note that this is not the responsibility of the government or a political movement — ultimately, it’s the responsibility of mothers and fathers across America.
Thankfully, there is plenty of scientific evidence suggesting that the way to raise a “successful” little human is not as difficult as the world makes it out to be.
A decades-long study conducted by Harvard University found that the most important thing a parent can do to set their child up for success is to love them deeply. The study noted a direct correlation between how nurturing a parent is and the child’s overall well-being, i.e. their mental health, IQ, and life-long stability.
“Nurturing and stable relationships with caring adults are essential to healthy human development beginning from birth. Early, secure attachments contribute to the growth of a broad range of competencies, including a love of learning, a comfortable sense of oneself, positive social skills, multiple successful relationships at later ages, and a sophisticated understanding of emotions, commitment, morality, and other aspects of human relationships.”
Children Develop in an Environment of Relationships
Loving and nurturing parents create an environment that is more conducive to learning, which means they can more easily educate their children on how to become functioning members of society. Doing this alone would make children less likely to fall victim to the left’s constant indoctrination.
At Turning Point USA, we proudly promote marriage, faith, traditional family values, and of course, having children. As patriots that care greatly about the future of the country, the greatest impact we can all have on America’s future is to take care of our homes and our families.
