In its latest marketing campaign, Disney has partnered with a “gender-fluid” TikTok influencer who cross-dresses, a decision that has prompted many to advocate that the company should receive the “Bud-Light treatment.”
Disney Style, a division of The Walt Disney Company that promotes apparel and accessories, partnered with gender-fluid TikTok influencer Seann Altmann. Altmann, a biological male, has a large following for his posts that display him dressing in women’s clothing.
In the promotional video, paid for by Disney, Altmann is seen dressing as Minnie Mouse. The TikToker wears a red dress, a white bonnet, and yellow heels, and styles his hair to look like Minnie Mouse’s ears.
The caption reads, “Minnie is ME! I fight right in with Mickey and his friends! @disneystyle.”
Recently, the company has not shied away from actively endorsing the LGBTQ+ ideology. The movie “Strange World,” which recently debuted, features a prominent gay character, while “Lightyear” made waves for a scene depicting a lesbian kiss. Pixar’s latest creation, “Elemental,” proudly introduces the studio’s first “non-binary” character.
Disney executives have spoken out in the past about the company’s “not at all secret gay agenda” to add LGBTQ+ characters into children’s content. But given the fact the company is losing billions of dollars, perhaps the once family-friendly Walt Disney Company will reevaluate which values it chooses to amplify.
