A controversial clip from the Disney Reboot of The Proud Family has been making rounds on Twitter over the past few days. The scene in question portrays the main characters of the show lamenting about the history of slavery in the United States. They state repeatedly that “slaves built this country,” that Abraham Lincoln did not actually free slaves, and that black Americans today deserve reparations.
Watch below:
It is clear that Disney is using this children’s show to echo the teachings of critical race theory grifter Ibram X. Kendi and The 1619 Project author Nikole Hannah-Jones. These political movements are intended to teach people that the United States is rooted in racism and slavery, that black Americans deserve reparations for slavery, and that systemic racism is still prevalent in today’s society.
The left knows that the best way for them to progress their social agenda is to indoctrinate children at a young age. It’s not a coincidence that their radical beliefs on gender and race are being taught in schools and on children shows. The Proud Family executive producer, Latoya Raveneau, was the same person who last year was exposed for stating that Disney has a “not-at-all-secret gay agenda” for their children’s programming.
This clip from the Proud Family is intended to teach children that our country is systemically racist and that there are modern barriers set up to prevent black people from being successful. But this is a dangerous lie. You can acknowledge the sins of America’s past without making the argument that we must uproot the foundational aspects of our country.
The great black leaders of our country’s history often pointed to the founding values of America found in the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence. Frederick Douglas, for example, pointed out that American values like “all men are created equal” is something to applaud. He explained that our country just wasn’t living up to its own values and therefore was hypocritical in practice. Instead of echoing this sentiment, modern leftists want to teach children to hate America and its founding.
Disney clearly has an agenda to cast more black faces and voices in their media projects. But they have a clear inability to separate black characters from political talking points. There have been many shows in television starring black families that audiences of all backgrounds enjoy watching, such as The Cosby Show and The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.
The difference is that these shows promoted good, family values and the characters happened to be black. But because race is now a priority, Disney insists on using their black characters to promote BLM talking points. It makes me have to remind you that this is a CHILDREN’S show and not something that should be used to promote radical, controversial political talking points (especially ones that are historically inaccurate).
