Within less than a year, US Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) reached 100,000 arrests in 2025. The agency is on track to double the amount of arrests made in 2024, being 13,000 arrests away from its total amount last year, according to CBS News.
This increase comes as the Trump Administration heavily prioritizes the handling of illegal immigration. For instance, the designation of eight South American gangs as foreign terrorist organizations, the re-instatement of a travel ban, and signing the Laken Riley Act, are examples of some of the initiatives the administration has taken to address illegal immigration.
The White House website also states the President’s record with deportations:
“Keeping with his pledge to launch the largest deportation effort in American history, President Trump has deported more than 100,000 illegal migrants since returning to office on Jan. 20.”
Amid ongoing ICE raids within the Los Angeles County region, riots broke out in Los Angeles this weekend. The National Guard was then deployed to address them. While the President based this deployment on Title 10 orders, California Governor Gavin Newsom, confident his state could handle the protests without federal support, found it “authoritarian” and unconstitutional.
On Monday afternoon, the President deployed 700 Marines to California to aid the National Guard in quelling the LA protests.
The White House recently launched a video for naturalized immigrants, featuring President Trump. In the video, the President welcomes the new citizens and beckons them to preserve the American way of life.
“You have it like nobody’s had it before. With this sacred honor comes the highest responsibility. As you know, the American way of life is unique in all the world. And as Americans, we must fiercely guard it and defend it,” the President said.
He then listed several values that characterize “American culture.”
“In this country, we believe in hard work, a merit system and equality of opportunity. We believe in self-government and the fair, equal and impartial rule of law. And we cherish our liberty and our God-given rights to free speech, the free exercise of religion and the right to keep and bear arms. This special American culture is now yours to preserve. Your freedoms are now yours to protect.”
