Writing arguably the most successful fantasy novel series in history, spearheading one of the greatest movie franchises of all time, and inspiring millions of readers worldwide means nothing in the era of cancel culture, it seems. Esteemed author J.K. Rowling has recently been ostracized from a portion of her reader base and labeled a “TERF,” (trans-exclusionary radical feminist) online for standing up for women in a world trying to erase womanhood.
Earlier this week, Rowling shared a Tweet, sarcastically calling U.K. politicians “wonderfully progressive and kind” after they posed for a photo next to signs calling for violence towards “TERFS” — grotesquely stating these women should be decapitated and eaten.
Those pictured were apparently shocked by the photos themselves, once news outlets and others like Rowling publicly shared their thoughts regarding the violent and radical messaging that the politicians appeared to be endorsing. Posting statements to Twitter, each wrote their own non-apology, “If I had seen the sign you’re referring to,” or “I was not aware of these hateful signs,” one woman even claimed that the sign “wasn’t there” when she joined the demonstration.
The controversy which landed Rowling on the negative side of progressives began in 2020, when she tweeted the link to an article which referenced “people who menstruate,” the new leftist-approved and trans-inclusive term to replace the word “women” that baffled her.
Almost instantly, the internet erupted with calls for cancelation. The beloved author and the world of Harry Potter were now deemed transphobic and hateful by the progressive modern mob — with no legitimate basis for their claims.
After the intense backlash to her original post, Rowling stood her ground, and wrote the following in a Tweet which quickly went viral, and sparked the global debate on the meaning and future of womanhood.
“If sex isn’t real, there’s no same-sex attraction. If sex isn’t real, the lived reality of women globally is erased. I know and love trans people, but erasing the concept of sex removes the ability of many to meaningfully discuss their lives. It isn’t hate to speak the truth.”

Since then, Rowling has continued speaking out on behalf of women being erased by the ever-progressing leftist gender doctrine.
Fans of the Harry Potter books or movies and the cast members who helped the stories come to life have come forward one after the other, either in support Rowling or to disassociate from her as much as possible. Each person was desperate to take a stance on what should have been a non-issue — the so-called conservative disinformation campaign, which simply points out that biological women are intrinsically different from trans-women.
A highly anticipated new video game based on the series, Hogwarts Legacy, is scheduled to be released on February 10, 2023 — and many Potter fans are grappling with whether or not to support the game or overall franchise in the wake of Rowling’s “transphobic” comments.
Jessie Earl, a 30-year-old trans YouTuber and journalist who the Washington Post says uses “she/they” pronouns, shared with the Post, “I own the first 9 movies and all 7 books myself. But any support of something like Hogwarts Legacy is harmful.”
