Over the past few weeks, podcast host Joe Rogan has been under fire from the mainstream media regarding spreading “misinformation” on his podcast. This comes on the tails of his two most popular interviews with Dr. Robert Malone and Dr. Peter McCullough. Rogan states, “they are highly credentialed, very intelligent, very accomplished people,” offering “an opinion that’s different from the mainstream narrative.”
That’s the exact reason I feel that the mainstream is upset. They feel threatened by Joe’s power to change the narrative. This is funny in itself because Joe doesn’t have a narrative. He’s just having very candid and authentic three-hour-long conversations with people. However, the people he’s talking to are the people mainstream doesn’t like. It’s as if we’re only allowed to listen to the doctors that CNN picks, not the ones that Joe picks.
Despite being three hours long, Joe Rogan is receiving 11 million views per show, while CNN Primetime averages only 800K views. The mainstream doesn’t have its grip on Rogan, and they never will, and I think this is what frustrates them the most.
Despite all of this backlash, Spotify is standing by Joe Rogan’s side through all of this. They’ve stated that they’re not going to censor him the same way they don’t censor rappers for the language they spew in music. While they are keeping Joe Rogan on the platform, Spotify released a statement outlining changes they will make to the platform, including a content advisory to any podcast that has a discussion about COVID-19.
