We are all a product of our environment. We get used to hearing things; whether it’s the sound of the waves or the wailing of police sirens, we get used to it. When you live in a conservative state with tough-on-crime policies that enforce mandatory mental health counseling or drug treatment for inmates, you get accustomed to living in safe streets.
In liberal cities, with progressive policies, you get used to seeing homeless tents in national parks. Your children have no place to play. You are afraid to walk alone at night.
Just as people should never take for granted waking up looking at the ocean, they should never have to get used to a lack of safety for themselves and their children. Progressive policies don’t work. They create more crime, more homelessness, and more unhappiness. No one should have to get used to that.
