A Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) teacher in Maryland is under investigation after posting on social media that Hamas’ attack on Israeli civilians was a hoax.

The teacher, Sabrina Khan-Williams, is a World Studies teacher and a DEI team leader at Tilden Middle School. In a series of posts on her Facebook account, Khan-Williams promoted numerous conspiracy theories about Israel’s involvement in its recent war with the Palestinian terrorist group, Hamas.

In one of her posts, obtained by The Daily Wire, Khan-Williams wrote, “Debunked!! No music festival attack. Babies were not burned. Women were not violated.” She went on to repost conspiracy theory videos and articles, including one that claimed Jews were killing Palestinians to harvest their organs and sell them.

The teacher’s remarks are particularly troubling given her role as an educator, and critics argue that her views on the Middle East conflict appear to be both misleading and biased. One of her claims was that Hamas “did not start” the war, but instead served as a “perfect vehicle for Zionists to continue its apartheid.”

According to The Daily Wire’s report, a spokesperson for Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS), the school district where Khan-Williams works, did not condemn the teacher’s rhetoric. The spokesperson was also unable to define her role as a “diversity, equity, and inclusion teacher.” The district did, however, state that it is investigating the matter.

“Per MCPS protocols, this matter will be investigated. Still, any actions as a result of that investigation would be considered a personnel matter, and further comments would violate employee privacy,” the spokesperson remarked.
