Two pro-life advocates were brutally attacked outside of a Planned Parenthood while sidewalk counseling in Baltimore, Maryland this week, and both sustained severe injuries.

73-year-old Mark Crosby and 80-year-old Dick Schafer were praying for and counseling women outside of a Planned Parenthood abortion facility on North Howard in Baltimore when they were assaulted by an unnamed suspect.

“One of our volunteers, Mark Crosby, was brutally beaten on May 26, 2023, while he was praying in front of the Planned Parenthood in Baltimore City. Mark is currently in the hospital being treated for the serious injuries he sustained.”

“For years, Mark has prayed in front of the Planned Parenthood in Baltimore City to let the scared, young abortion-minded women know that they are loved, that their baby is loved.”

Chafer was hit by the man from behind, which sent him flying into a large ceramic planter, he told LifeSiteNews that he was knocked out by the hit. Crosby was left blind in one eye and told the interviewer that he will likely need surgery to repair fractures left in his face from the attack. The images of the aftermath depict Crosby’s “severe facial injuries,” and a blood-stained sidewalk outside of the Planned Parenthood clinic.

LifeSiteNews reported that while Chafer was able to heal from his injuries at home, “Crosby went to the University of Maryland’s shock trauma facility to receive treatment for serious injuries to his skull and eye socket as well as his knees and fingers.”

Several instances of attacks on pro-life centers and advocates have been reported in recent months as calls for violence against pro-lifers have ramped up. The Attorney General of the United States even noted during a Congressional hearing that the DOJ actively prosecutes more pro-life advocates for crimes than it does abortion activists.

The FBI even deemed men such as pro-life activist Mark Houck and Catholic activists Chafer and Crosby “extremists” in a leaked memo.

It remains to be seen whether or not law enforcement and DOJ officials will hunt down the perpetrator of this heinous crime with the same vigor in which it has gone after conservatives in the past.
