Gordon Klein, a professor of accounting who was first hired by the University of California, Los Angeles, sued the school after being suspended by UCLA’s Anderson School of Management last year.

Professor Klein was suspended in May 2020 after receiving a letter from a white student asking that his grading be more lenient toward black students following the death of George Floyd and the rise of nationwide protests and riots by BLM, Inc. In order to dodge their own academic responsibilities, these white students intimidated UCLA faculty into dropping their final exams, giving the students all “generous, unearned grades,” according to the lawsuit.

Professor Klein refused, saying giving grades that students did not deserve is “divisive” and “inconsistent with the university’s core principles.” Klein addressed one of the students via email, advocating for more lenient grading and deadlines by asking the student, “What do you suggest I do with respect to [half black-half Asian] students? A full concession or just half?” A screenshot of the email went viral, leading to Dean Antonio Bernardo issuing an apology, stating the email was “outrageous and simply inexcusable.” Bernardo even went on to say in a letter that addressed Klien by name that the university “reject[s] racism and violence.”

According to The College Fix, a petition was signed by 20,000 people calling for Klein to be fired. Now that he’s been put on “mandatory leave,” Professor Klein is suing UCLA for “compensatory damages, punitive damages, and attorney fees.”

Professor Klein–we stand with you here at Turning Point USA! Thank you for treating students with equality, inspiring everyone equally to pursue their dreams, and not giving in to the woke demands of college campuses.
