On the latest Red Table Talk episode Jada Pinkett Smith spoke with Lori Loughlin’s daughter Olivia Jade about being at the center of the college admissions scandal.

The interview took an awkward turn when Adrienne Banfield Norris told her that she didn’t have the energy for the conversation because of Olivia’s white privilege. The first thing I thought was, ‘why did you even do this interview then’ if you can’t even stomach the conversation. As a viewer, my perception was that Olivia probably expected to go on the show to apologize for everything and have a brand image reset. Instead, she was criticized for being white and interrogated for her parent’s actions since, according to Adrienne, she would have gotten accepted anywhere anyway because of her race.

This interview was a disaster. It made Olivia Jade look even worse than she already does. I don’t know who okayed her to do her first interview back in the spotlight with Jada Pinkett Smith, but they should be fired. They all should have known it was going to turn into a massive hate-fest due to her race. Not to mention how disgusting Adrienne’s insinuation was that Olivia would have gotten into whatever school she wanted because of her race alone in contrast to a person of color.

The evidence suggests otherwise. Rick Singer, the man that helped all these wealthy parents get their kids into elite schools, told several of his “clients” to mark their kids as a minority (even when they weren’t) on their college admissions because NOT doing so could put their child at a “competitive disadvantage.”

Lawsuits across the country have accused college admissions offices of making race the primary factor in admissions, with minority students getting preference. The Supreme Court will be hearing a case against Harvard that claims the school has been openly discriminating against Asian American students in favor of black and brown ones.

Programs like Affirmative Action are not only racist towards white and Asian people, it’s racist towards black and brown people because it suggests that they’re incapable of getting into competitive schools based on their merit. Your race, sexual orientation, or even political ideology are not the most important thing about you. What you contribute to society and create with your legacy is. Olivia Jade didn’t get admitted to college because she’s white; she got admitted because her parents are loaded. The only privilege that exists in this country is green, not white. If you pay, you can play, and no one cares what color you are as long as the money is good.
