While Conservatives have been staunchly pro-life for decades now, it seemed like the majority of American people appeared to be on board with the Left’s stance that it is the woman’s “right to choose.” I am sensing a major shift in the stance of the average American when it comes to abortion, and it comes from – what else – the Left constantly overplaying their hand.
Average Americans were content to play along with the lie that Planned Parenthood mainly works in ‘women’s healthcare’ when abortion is the MAJORITY of what the organization actually does. In today’s age of social media, pro-life Conservatives have more of a platform than ever before, and I think they are beginning to change minds.
For example, the Liberal backlash to the new Texas law that bans abortion after 6 weeks. Yes, there was outrage among the usual suspects in the mainstream media, but it seems to be quite muted. Of course, we saw the usual parade of Hollywood actresses “speaking out,” but more interesting were those who decided to stay silent.
Also, look at the instances of young mothers in the spotlight right now. Rapper Cardi B just had her second child over Labor Day weekend. Singer/Actress Halsey just welcomed her first child and did an interesting interview over at Apple Music where she described her desire for motherhood and the backlash that came with it. She said:
“I tried very hard for this pregnancy, and it was like, I’m financially independent, I’m pretty far along in my career, it feels like the right time for me to do it.”
While Halsey remains unmarried and Cardi B rapping in a belly-exposing bodysuit while 7 months pregnant isn’t really my cup of tea, there’s something to be said about the cultural shift that is happening here. Young women are deciding to choose life over choice and become mothers. They are deciding to put motherhood before their “career” (or at least do it alongside)- going against the vile idea that the Left tries to trap women into.
This cultural shift in regards to abortion and choosing life is real. And I’m interested to see where it goes next.
