Throughout Amy Coney Barrett’s Senate confirmation hearings, the left has created a baseless narrative that ACB will set American women “backwards.”
Unencumbered by having zero evidence for this accusation, the left has portrayed ACB as the face of overturning Roe v. Wade. They have described her as an “anti-feminist” who doesn’t believe the Constitution guarantees women equal protection before the law and will use her lifetime seat on the highest court in the land “to harm other women by reducing their rights and freedom.”
We all know these sick criticisms of ACB are largely a result of her devout Catholic faith, as well as the left’s quasi-religious devotion to keep President Trump from filling the Supreme Court seat once held by the hallowed, Ruth Bader Ginsburg. The truth is, as Judge Barrett herself has testified during the confirmation hearing, her religious and political views will not determine how she interprets the Constitution, nor does it determine the outcome of cases she hears. As she has noted repeatedly, her rulings are solely based on interpreting any relevant laws in context of the United States Constitution. That is how she has ruled as a judge on the Seventh Circuit, and that is how she intends to rule should she be confirmed to the Supreme Court.
But let’s back up a bit. As the left is busy accusing ACB of setting Americans backward, it’s bastions of “progressivism” like the University of Kentucky, which are literally reverting back to segregation. The university conducted Residential Assistance Trainings where white RAs are sent to a “White Accountability Space” and presented with separate training from their counterparts. In this training, white RAs are given a document that lists 41 “common racist behaviors and attitudes of white people.”
Included on this list is the idea that white people “believe they have ‘earned’ what they have, rather than acknowledge the extensive white privilege and unearned advantages they receive.” The list also claims that white people don’t “notice the daily indignities that people of color experience; deny them and rationalize them away from perfectly logical explanations,” “resent taking direction from a person of color,” and tend to ask “people of color to repeat what they have said.”
If anyone is setting Americans backward, it’s the left. Rather than helping to heal any persistent racial tensions, their flagrant virtue-signaling in the name of “racial equality” is only serving to inflame them. This is Marxism at its core–dividing people by “oppressed” v. “oppressor” based on nothing other than an individual’s skin color. What happened to judging someone based on the content of their character rather than the color of their skin?
The left doesn’t want that. The left demands that white people become the enemy. To have their way, the left pushes baseless, non-factual accusations of racism within our government in the same way they slander Judge Amy Coney Barret with baseless, non-factual accusations. This is a thread common in all narratives perpetuated by leftists; If someone, something, or some belief doesn’t fit into what they deem as “woke” enough, they will isolate and personalize their target in an effort to demonize and vilify it. This is Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals 101.
Rather than being a true movement for positive reform, the left is actively working to regress the progress Americans have fought to achieve for hundreds of years; the principles of liberty, and equality under the law, regardless of skin color, gender, or any other immutable characteristic beyond the content of your character. Meanwhile, the left points fingers at conservatives, projecting whatever they are actually guilty of doing onto others. Make no mistake, this is sick, manipulative behavior, all for a power grab by the left.
So where do we draw the line? How far will conservatives and patriotic Americans allow the left to pull us back in time to tribalism, segregation, and division? We must work harder and more convincingly than ever to make sure come November 3rd, the resounding answer will be that we’ve had enough. And hopefully, Justice Amy Coney Barrett will be seated on the highest Court in the land ensuring our laws say the same.
