With show season in full swing, I wanted to highlight an organization that hosts these hunting tradeshows that I’m constantly attending and what they are all about!

The Dallas Safari Club (DSC) is a nonprofit organization established in 1972 and based out of Dallas, Texas. The organizations efforts contribute to conservation of wildlife and focus on educating the public about protecting wildlife and their habitats.

There are many ways the organization raises money throughout the year, but the most valuable is a big fundraiser that is held every year at their annual convention. It’s one of my favorite shows of the year! I have been attending since I was a young girl and I love seeing all the different booths and exhibits from taxidermy, to outfitters, to new products in the outdoors, and of course my favorite, the fur booth! The convention brings over 60,000 visitors during the 4 day event and uses it as a platform to raise awareness and funds for conservation projects.

A big part of what DSC does is awarding grants for conservation initiatives. They have granted over $7 million in more than 50 countries. The projects cover a variety of species from elephants to rhinos, big cats, and many other species to help protect wildlife and their habitats.

Along with raising funds for those initiatives they also focus on education and support ways for the public to expand their knowledge of the outdoors. The organization hosts a number of educational programs including youth camps and workshops aimed to help today’s youth get inspired about the outdoors. There are also other events and conferences that are held across the country throughout the year.
