Creighton University, one of the leading religious institutions of higher education in the country, has instituted some of the most draconian measures for COVID-19 vaccines nationwide.
On October 21 of this year, the University announced that they would only be allowing faculty and staff to receive religious or medical exemptions for the vaccine–no longer would students be eligible to receive either, despite the school being a religious university.
One student, Patrice Quadrel, applied for a religious exemption for the vaccine at the beginning of the semester, sharing with Campus Reform, “My faith does not align with the manufacturing and testing process that was used to create these vaccines. Taking this vaccine is against my religious beliefs.” She was denied an exemption after the school said they do not accept religious exemptions for students.
Now, she is banned from campus and from all university events–no exceptions.
The reality that one of the nation’s leading Catholic universities is outlawing religious exemptions for students pertaining to vaccines should tell you everything you need to know about how extreme authoritarianism on college campuses is. What are your thoughts on Creighton’s policies?
