Gabby Petito’s sudden and unexplained disappearance has captivated America’s attention as we search for answers this week. On July 2, 22-year-old Gabby Petito and her fiance, 23-year-old Brian Laundrie, embarked on what was to be a 4-month road trip across the United States in a camper van to visit National Parks and experience “van life,” but Brian returned alone to Florida on September 1–without Gabby.
Body camera footage released from Moab, Utah, the other day detailed a domestic dispute between the two on August 12. Gabby is shown to be emotional and crying while Brian remains calm. Police designated the situation a “mental/emotional health ‘break,’” rather than a situation of domestic violence. The full-body camera footage can be viewed here:
In the police report, law enforcement had described Brian as the victim of the situation rather than Gabby.
Theories have run rampant online about Gabby’s disappearance–where she may be, if she is alive today, and what Brian’s involvement is. Brian was not named a person of interest in the missing person case until this week, and has retained an attorney, and refuses to answer questions from law enforcement.
Brian’s sister appeared on Good Morning America today, claiming she has not spoken to her brother and hopes this situation is just a “misunderstanding.”
Gabby’s parents are heartbroken about the disappearance of their daughter and are asking for anyone who has any information to call the FBI’s tip line on her case: 1-800-CALL-FBI.
She was last known to be in Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming.
