We are watching respect for our beautiful nation, and our flag, disappear before our eyes.

On October 6th, “peaceful” protesters marched from Bushwick, NY to Maspeth to protest police unions. During the march, the protesters stole American flags from private homes and defaced them with messages like “stolen land.” These protesters are TRESPASSING, STEALING, and DEFACING private property. They then threw the American flags in a pile in the middle of the street and set them on fire. The fact that AMERICAN CITIZENS would deface their nation’s flag is an absolute abomination. The fact that people are deeming these protestors as “peaceful” is beyond me.

The neighborhood residents emerged from their homes to watch the horrific demonstrations being carried out before their eyes. After a few moments of tension, the police arrived to break up the scene.

This is in no way, shape, or form an isolated event. This summer, a group calling themselves the Revolution Club held a mass flag burning at Columbus Circle in New York City. On the 4th of July, far-left protesters burned an American flag near the White House while chanting, “America was never great.” They were also heard chanting, “One, two, three, four, slavery, genocide and war. Five, six, seven, eight, America was never great.” Just weeks ago, rioters in Portland previously threatened to burn down a home for flying the American flag. Why isn’t the disrespectful, anti-American behavior being condemned?

Our flag is supposed to represent freedom, unity, and the American spirit. The red symbolizes hardiness and valor. The white symbolizes purity and innocence. The blue represents vigilance, perseverance, and justice. When did these values become partisan? When did they become something to protest? Where do we draw the line? When will we demand respect for the flag that represents the greatest nation in history?
